weekend licensing course
overall class schedule
our goal during the weekend is to give you the vocabulary and the exposure you'll need to successfully study and learn all you need to pass your technician license exam. you will hear about all major aspects of amateur radio, learn some basic electronics, learn about the properties of radio waves and radio wave propagation, and you'll learn about the rules governing the amateur service. we will also show you how to contact other hams in the area, as well as around the world!
if you'd like to get started on your learning before the class, get a copy of the arrl ham radio license manual and read chapter 1 (welcome to amateur radio) and chapter 5 (licensing regulations). that should give you a good jump on our weekend!
once the weekend is through, you will need to use some of the on-line material that is available to you. the most useful resources are the many on-line practice tests you can take.
we assume no previous knowledge in our course and all are welcome to join us. there is quite a bit of time built into the weekend for you to get on the air, ask questions, and see some of the fun aspects of the hobby first hand. for the schedule of classes, click here.
after that, we'll see you at the next ve session to earn your license!.
